ASPHALT PLANT OPERATOR -

You are an safety-conscious Asphalt Plant Operator with at least 3 years’ experience. You will be working with our Highway Construction crew throughout Alberta on various paving projects. You are a team player who ensures the well-being of others and lends a hand where needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to operate Asphalt Plant safely and effectively
  • Have sufficient computer skills to operate Asphalt Plant
  • Ensure regular equipment maintenance is completed
  • Monitor operations to ensure consistent production and be responsible for completing daily checks and maintain plant logs
  • Must follow and comply with Ledcor’s Health & Safety programs

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with support equipment associated with the Asphalt Plant, such as loaders and skid steers
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to provide a valid driver’s abstract
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to incorporate health and safety concepts into work activities
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Mechanical inclination would be a definite asset

SCREED OPERATOR - 

You are a safety-conscious Screed Operator with at least 5 years of experience. You will be operating CAT model screeds alongside our Highway Construction crew on various projects throughout Alberta. You are a team player who ensures the well-being of others and lends a hand where needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Operate screed manually and with automatics
  • Operate all functions of the screed equipment safely and maintain tonnage control
  • Coordinate daily paving activity and procedures with other crew members and operators

Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience as a Screed Operator on highway construction projects
  • Experience with screed setup and maintenance
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing  
  • Ability to incorporate health and safety concepts into work activities
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision

LOADER OPERATOR - 

You are a safety-conscious Loader Operator with previous Highway Construction experience. You will be running 844 John Deere or equivalent Loaders alongside our Highway Construction team on various projects throughout Alberta. You are a team player who ensures the well-being of others and lends a hand where needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Operate various sized loaders safely and efficiently on Highway Construction projects
  • Communicate with other operators and crew members in work area
  • Load trucks and feed asphalt plant

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience operating John Deere 844 or equivalent loaders on a highway construction sites
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to provide a valid driver’s abstract
  • Ability to incorporate Health & Safety concepts into work activities and demonstrates concern for others
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision

PAVER OPERATOR -

You are a safety-conscious Paver Operator with previous highway construction experience. You will be running CAT model pavers alongside our Highway Construction crew on various road building projects throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. You are a team player who ensures the well-being of others and lends a hand where needed.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct pre-trip/walk-around safety inspection  
  • Operate all functions and controls of the paver in coordination with the pickup machine safely with an emphasis on workmanship. 
  • Work closely with screed man and the rest of the crew to ensure paving operations keep moving in a timely and accurate manner  
  • Ensure correct application of the asphalt from hopper to augers 
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance 

Qualifications: 

  • 3 to 5 years of previous experience operating pavers on a highway construction sites  
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing  
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to provide a clean driver’s abstract  
  • Ability to incorporate health and safety concepts into work activities  
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision

LABOURERS - HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION

You are a hard-working, team player with previous experience as a Labourer. You will be working with our Highway Construction crew throughout Alberta either on the road or in the asphalt plant.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform various highway construction tasks including raking, shoveling, unloading trucks and small maintenance tasks
  • Assist with traffic control procedures and work zone setup
  • Work well with others and adhere to Ledcor HSE program

Qualifications:

  • Previous labor experience within a highways setting is an advantage
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing  
  • Ability to incorporate health and safety concepts into work activities
  • Must demonstrate ability to work under minimal supervision

Work Conditions: 

  • This position is likely to run from May to November 2021 
  • 6/1 shift rotation working 10-14 hours per day. Candidates must be flexible regarding their shift schedule 
  • Living out allowance of $130.00 per day is provided 
  • Benefits provided by CLAC  
  • Camp area with hookups provided for those with an RV or trailer
