Shop Mechanic 2 (Prefab)

Location: Burnaby, BC

Job Status: Full-Time Temporary

Salary: $40.05 Hourly

Duration: 12 months 

Responsibilities:

• Construct, fabricate, assemble, disassemble, alter, test, and repair various industrial/commercial/residential meter sets, manifolds, and piping assemblies.
• Bench test and adjust regulators, confirming function.
• Utilize manual and power-operated tools, equipment, and machinery.
• Use oxyacetylene equipment for heating pipe and fittings during assembly.

Career Progression:

• The Shop Mechanic 2 (Prefab) has the opportunity for conditional promotion to Shop Mechanic 1 (Prefab) upon writing and passing the Provincial Grade B Gas Fitters Licence exam.
• This promotion is subject to completing the twelve-month probation period for the Shop Mechanic 2 (Prefab).
• Failure to obtain the Class B license within the probationary period will result in returning to the previous classification.

Requirements:

• Initiative, sense of responsibility, and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  
• Ability to direct the work of Shop Assistants.
• Demonstrated safe work habits and efficient work history.

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic MS Office knowledge and SAP knowledge are assets.

• Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to acquire pipe fitting skills.
• Proficiency in the use of hand and power-operated tools, equipment, and machinery.
• Thorough knowledge of meter sets, piping assemblies, and industrial regulators.
  
• Capability to interpret work orders, mechanical drawings, sketches, and written instructions.

Work Conditions

• On feet most of the day, involving considerable bending and lifting.
