What Worley Cord is Hiring for:

WorleyCord Teamco Ltd., a subsidiary of WorleyCord Lp., is seeking a Maintenance Electrician to work at our SUNCOR Industrial Water Maintenance Project in the Fort McMurray, AB area.

  • SALARY: Up to $45.70 per hour
  • LOCATION INCENTIVE: $643.25 per week
  • TRAVEL ALLOWANCE: Varies according to location of primary residence
  • BOOT ALLOWANCE: $250.00 every 24 months
  • OVERTIME: Paid at double time
  • TRAVEL: Fly-in/Fly-out from Edmonton or Calgary
  • SCHEDULE: 14 days on, 14 days off
  • HOURS PER DAY: 12 hours per day
  • PAY SCHEDULE: Weekly Pay (Friday)SHIFT: Dayshift and Nightshift
  • ACCOMODATIONS: Camp / LOADURATION: Ongoing
  • WORK SCOPE: Maintenance - Water Treatment Plant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with management and supervision to keep all equipment and buildings in compliance with electrical and fire codes
  • Repairs and maintains major equipment such as motors, pumps, generators, and fire control systems
  • Tests defective equipment to determine the cause of malfunction or failure using standard electrical test equipment
  • Observes functioning of installed facility equipment to detect hazards and need for adjustment, relocation, or replacement
  • Inspects all equipment on a regularly scheduled basis; meets all requirements of the established preventative maintenance program; inspects, maintains, and makes repairs
  • Performs weekly/monthly run-ups on fire pumps
  • Performs troubleshooting and repairs on diesel and electric fire water pumping systems
  • Supports additional fire system tasks as required
  • Troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements of the following, including but not limited to: piping, valves, actuators, electrical components, chemical and water quality analysers, PLC’s, control panels, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), UV systems, chemical dosing systems, tank mixing systems, oxygen monitoring systems, instrumentation devices (flow, pressure, air velocity, level, etc.), screening units, aeration systems, solar mixers, and skimming units
  • Completes inventory and material procurement as required
  • Support and provide supervision to sub-contractors as required
  • Ability to use computers and computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook as well as computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to compose and complete reports
  • Complete all required tasks in the CMMS, including but not limited to work order creation, predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance work orders, updating of tasks, hours, and labour reports, inventory management, PM and procedure creation/editing as required
  • Review existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and create new SOPs when required
  • Provide back-up to Maintenance Technicians/Supervisors and Operations Supervisor as required
  • Maintains the files necessary to support all maintenance activities
  • Provides support and training to newly hired employees utilizing the “buddy system”
  • Other activities and tasks as assigned by supervision and management

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, Temporary

  • All work will be completed in the area surrounding Fort McMurray. Workers local to Fort McMurray will be given preference.
  • The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on electrical equipment; have vision sufficient to perform electrical maintenance; have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In a 12-hour shift must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, climb and work off of a ladder or scaffold and climb into and out of vehicles having high ground clearance; use arms and back to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts; carry a 50 pound tool box up a flight of stairs; work in confined spaces and wear and use appropriate safety equipment. Night and weekend shift rotation will be required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Red Seal Electrician Certification or, at a minimum, Alberta Journeyman Certification
  • Three years’ experience in an Electrical Journeyperson role
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Basic familiarity of the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations; operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors; principles and methods of bacteriological and chemical sewage analyses; effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes; safe work practices
  • Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems
  • Additional post-secondary training will be considered an asset
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
