Automotive Service Technician
Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Employment Type: Full-Time, Regular
Wages: $43.20 - $47.85 per hour
Days of Work:
- Monday - Thursday, 3:15 p.m. - 1:15 a.m.; OR
- Friday - Sunday, 5:45 a.m. - 5:45 p.m., and non-pay Thursday, 5:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.
Responsibilities:
- Provide preventative maintenance, on-demand repairs, safety inspections, and mechanical breakdown repairs for a wide variety of light and medium-duty vehicles.
- Work from repair and diagnostic manuals and software to troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul various vehicle components.
- Ensure all fleet vehicles and equipment are safe and operational.
- Provide detailed training, mentoring, and assistance to Apprentices and Servicemen.
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
Certificates & Licenses
- Automotive Service Technician certificate or equivalent Interprovincial Red Seal.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience maintaining and repairing light and medium-duty vehicles and road maintenance equipment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, along with sound judgment and high attention to detail.
Pre-employment
- Proof of qualifications.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to noise, fumes from exhaust and cleaners, moving parts, tools, and biohazards.
Additional Information:
- Applicants are required to have a standard set of mechanic hand tools.
- Other journeyman tickets (Heavy Duty, Automotive & Motorcycle, Blue Seal) are considered assets.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Vehicle Inspection program (CVIP) license.
