Heavy Duty Mechanic

Location: Abbotsford, BC

Pay Rate: $32.19 - $35.25 / Hour

Shifts: Monday – Friday | 8 AM – 5 PM

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform inspections of GSE:Undertake visual mechanical inspection of various GSEIdentify maintenance needs and complete support documentationReport findings to Facilities Crew Leader
2. Repair all GSE:Remove defective or unsafe GSE units from serviceDisassemble, repair or replace components, and reassembleWeld and replace parts as neededDocument repairs effectively
3. Perform mechanical maintenance of company vehicles:Conduct regular maintenance checksWash company vehicles regularlyComplete all repairs needed unless under factory warrantyTake vehicles to the insurance company for claims
4. Ensure safety compliance:Adhere to health and safety policies and proceduresWear proper safety equipment when handling hazardous materialsInform co-workers of hazardous materials being handledFollow safety policies and procedures when operating equipment

Qualifications:

• Certificate in Automotive Mechanics and/or Welding; Forklift, Scissor Lift, and Boom Lift
• 3 to 5 years of experience in automotive or commercial equipment maintenance
• Minimum 5+ years of general mechanical work experience
• Heavy Duty Mechanic and/or Diesel experience would be an asset

Knowledge & Skills

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal English)
• General handyman skills with the ability to use various tools
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure timely completion
• Strong understanding of mechanical processes and procedures
• Good work ethic with proven attendance and punctuality
