Welder Required for Busy Calgary Yard! Full Time. Mon-Fri

Location: Calgary

Position: Full time

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work orders 
• Uses SMAW welding techniques to safely repair fabricated structural components
• Grind and deburr sharp edges from steel parts using hand and power tools 
• Follow directions given on work orders and by co-workers 
• Transport steel frame materials and finished steel products manually, using hoists or other devices 
• Sort steel parts, and other materials 
• Load and unload steel parts and move parts using hand truck or dolly 
• Ensures housekeeping is completed on an hourly basis in assigned area(s)
• Reports any observed damages to materials and/or equipment to the yard supervisor
• Operate forklifts 
• Perform other duties as required

Certificates & Licences

• Provincial Journeyman Welder certification

• Standard First Aid  WHMIS is an asset
• Fall Protection and AWP an asset

Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of welding experience preferred
• Previous forklift experience an asset 
• Knowledge of general safety practices
• Experience as a general labourer working on a construction site an asset.
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisor(s) to perform manual labour tasks (e.g. stacking up goods).

• Crane & Rigging experience is an asset

• Operates the forklifts and loaders where needed, if properly certified.
• Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication.
• Ability to interface and communicate well with others. Understand and follow oral and written directions.

Tools & Equipment

• Must have CSA approved safety boots.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. 
  

Transportation

• Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation
