Job Details

  • Read meters and input figures accurately for the calculation and recording of electrical and gas consumption in line with monthly billing schedules.
  • Organize work efficiently and carry out assigned tasks with limited supervision.
  • Work independently, following procedures for the daily operation and maintenance of the hand-held meter reading device.
  • Monitor, administer, and recommend changes to meter read routes.
  • Demonstrate professional interpersonal skills, interacting with internal and external customers, resolving concerns, and providing excellent customer service.
  • Issue and facilitate customer communications for meter access.
  • Ensure SaskPower’s service integrity by identifying and reporting unusual circumstances or faulty service conditions.
  • Maintain the security of customer keys and access codes.
  • Prepare required forms and reports.
  • Practice and promote safe work habits, following applicable working alone policies.
  • Read maps and navigate accordingly.
  • Perform Hazard and Risk Assessments for acceptable risk levels in various situations.
  • Perform physical job responsibilities: walking up to 6.5 hours per day, bending, stretching, and climbing to access meters.
  • Perform other related and assigned duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
  • Work independently and carry out tasks with limited supervision.
  • Accurate meter reading and data input for billing calculations.
  • Efficient organization of work and recommendations for route changes.
  • Cooperative and tactful interaction with others.
  • Effective communication, both verbally and in writing.*

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
