Structural Steel Shop Welder

Location: Victoria, TX

Salary: $20/hour (DOE)

Position: Full-time, perm

Responsibilities:

• Fabricate and weld structural steel components according to specifications.
• Layout, position, align, and fit parts for steel fabrication, ensuring adherence to specifications.
• Verify work piece conformance using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
• Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
• Determine appropriate welding equipment or method based on project requirements.
• Interpret blueprints, identify weld symbols, and follow welding procedures accordingly.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts requiring welding.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
• Maintain welding equipment ensuring safety standards are met.
• Perform work safely, meeting quality standards.
• Keep the job site clean and organized.

Tools & Equipment

•  Jib cranes
• Overhead cranes
• Forklifts, and 
• Pallet jacks.

Requirements:

• Must pass a MIG weld test (guided bend test with two one-inch 3x6" plates, one beveled and one squared).
• Ability to perform a full pin test with back gouge.
• Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
