Mechanical Engineering Work Experience Student (Waste Services)
Duration: 8 months
Job Type: Temp, Full-time
Pay: $27.857 - $32.499 (Hourly)
Opening: 1
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with the data analysis, reporting, mechanical installation of changes, upgrades, and refurbishment of solid waste management processes
- Assist with the collection, organization, and analysis of data from inspection and condition assessment reports to ensure all assets meet various regulations and standards
- Assist with developing a framework for the migration of engineering documents into the new Electronic Data Management System, and then participating in the migration work
- Assist in project management during the planning, design and construction stages of capital projects
- Interface with Consultants and Contractors during the planning, design and construction for solid waste management projects
Experience
- Currently enrolled in a mechanical engineering co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience program
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to use Google Workspace applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
- Demonstrated ability to take direction from and provide technical support to various City Staff
- Ability to take initiative and coordinate collaborative work
- Must arrange own transportation; There is no public transportation to the site
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a respectful, inclusive, and service-minded manner
