Pay: $18 to $30 per hour

Job Details

• Works under general direction
• Responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and overseeing all operations systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, at various locations. 
• Expected to coordinate and complete all work orders, performing routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC, boiler, heating, refrigeration, water, plumbing, energy, and electrical systems.
• Responsible for general maintenance, including but not limited to repairs on toilet facilities, replacement of lamps, cleaning light fixtures, ceiling tile replacement, minor floor or furniture repairs, maintaining, repairing or replacing door hardware, maintenance painting in equipment rooms, cooling towers or other building facilities, replacement of filters in HVAC equipment, general cleaning in mechanical spaces, cleanup of equipment in engine room and shop, miscellaneous handyman work requiring the use of hand tools.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

• Minimum of four years of vocational training or experience as a maintenance technician.

Certificates & Licenses

• Must currently hold one of the following: journeyman HVAC license, journeyman electrician license, journeyman plumber license, or Millwright certification.

• Valid State Vehicle Operator’s License.
• Hold or be able to qualify for other certificates or licenses as required by federal, state, or city government.

Knowledge & Skills

• Demonstrated ability to communicate and apply craft techniques, processes, and principles.
• Ability to use independent decision-making judgment concerning maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to apply shop mathematics and interpret written instructions.

Physical Requirements: 

• Position may require moderate to extensive stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions, along with some combination of climbing and balancing. 
• May be subject to sitting for prolonged periods at a keyboard or workstation. 
• Requires consistent ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally. 
• Ability to speak clearly, hear normal conversations, and see small details.

Work Environment: 

• Work is performed outdoors and indoors with exposure to noise, dirt, grease, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, fumes, animals, insects, chemicals, treated/untreated sewer, water, inclement weather, machinery with moving parts requiring the use of protective devices, computer screens, and operation of a motor vehicle.
