Schedule

  • 5 On, 4 Off, 5 On, 5 Off, 4 On, 5 Off 
  • 12 hrs/day rotating day/night shift

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide vacation and sick coverage for the Chief Engineer.
  • Direct and supervise the safe operation of the power and thermal fluid plant.
  • Operate the water treatment plant, overseeing the water treatment program to ensure adherence to limits and parameters for boiler, condensate, and cooling water systems.
  • Update the logbook with safety, maintenance, testing, and operation details for boilers and thermal fluid systems.
  • Conduct 2-hour rounds on all steam generators and 4-hour rounds on the thermal fluid system.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and demonstrate technical knowledge to supervise the assigned equipment.
  • Intervene in emergencies, ensuring people's safety, process stabilization, and environmental protection.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, quality standards, and safety at work.
  • Work on rotating shifts (day, night, and weekends) and perform duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Minimum 2nd Class Power Engineer certificate (consideration for applicants progressing towards the 2nd Class Power Engineer certificate)

Experience

  • At least five years of relevant experience

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficiency in gas production, treatment, and compression; familiarity with alcohol distillation is advantageous
  • Strong understanding and adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and operational procedures and policies
  • Knowledgeable about permitting and safe out procedures
  • Familiarity with Alberta Safety Codes Act and ASME Section I and VII
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel and Word
  • Sense of accountability, ability to work independently, and collaborate within a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working outdoors in diverse weather conditions and at elevated heights
  • Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada
