What ACTIMS (Alberta Council of Turnaround Industry Maintenance Stakeholders) is Hiring for:

TIG Alloy Welders

Location: Alberta, Canada (Temporary)

Project: Suncor Base Plant & Firebag, Syncrude, Shell Scotford

Shift: 10-hour shift - Days/Nights

Accommodation: Camp  

Pay: DOE

Duties:

  • Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping, and other metal components.
  • Make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants.
  • Weld parts, tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Apply heat to metal pieces to melt and fuse them together.
  • Use different welding processes and fillers depending on metal type, size, and shape.
  • Develop patterns for projects or follow given directions in layouts, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Clean, check for defects, and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch.

Working Conditions:

  • Welders generally work on construction sites.
  • Conditions may be cramped, dirty, and involve exposure to chemical vapors, wetness, or high noise levels.

Schedule

  • Normal workweek is 40 hours, but overtime may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Some risk of injury involved, especially when working at considerable heights.

  • Journeyman
