What City Of Edmonton is Hiring for:

Labourer II

Location: Various Locations, Edmonton (City Wide)

Pay: DOE

Position: Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and take down equipment for facility events, programs, and sports activities
  • Perform summer season outdoor tasks such as mowing, playground/picnic site  maintenance, and minor equipment repairs
  • Safely operate equipment like John Deere Brush or Kubota for winter season snow removal
  • Assist with facility cleanliness and sanitation including washrooms, shower rooms, and  locker rooms
  • Maintain cleanliness of storage areas, mechanical rooms, corridors, bleachers, and running track areas
  • Perform floor maintenance tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and waxing
  • Conduct minor repairs on facility equipment and furniture
  • Liaise with customers to address equipment and facility needs
  • Assist with daily facility opening and closing procedures
  • Provide security presence throughout the facility
  • Maintain appropriate facility and equipment maintenance documentation
  • Report maintenance needs to Operations Supervisor and call for Trades assistance when  needed
  • Liaise with Maintenance Repairman I and Building Trades Maintenance staff

Education

  • Completed 10th grade
Experience
  • One year of related labour experience, including interacting with the general public; experience in sports facilities operations is an asset
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to safely operate required equipment and tools
  • Knowledge of standard methods, materials, safety precautions, and hazards involved in construction and maintenance
  • Ability to work safely in various environmental conditions
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and maintain records
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve
  • Experience with janitorial or custodial work, and hand tools is an asset
Certificates & Licenses
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR certification required
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent)
  • Successful completion of a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check
