Utility Worker, Meter Reader

Location: PRINCE ALBERT, SK, CA (SaskPower Pr Albert - Regional Office)

Job Type: Temporary - Part Time until 12/31/2024

Pay: Competitive

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accurately read meters and input figures for electrical and gas consumption.
  • Efficiently organize work and carry out tasks with limited supervision.
  • Follow procedures for the operation and maintenance of the handheld meter reading device.
  • Monitor, administer, and recommend changes to meter read routes.
  • Interact professionally with internal and external customers, resolving concerns in a timely manner.
  • Issue and facilitate customer communications for meter access.
  • Ensure service integrity by identifying and reporting unusual circumstances or faulty service conditions.
  • Maintain the security of customer keys and access codes.
  • Prepare required forms and reports.
  • Practice and promote safe work habits.
  • Read maps and navigate accordingly.
  • Perform physical responsibilities such as walking, bending, stretching, and climbing.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
  • Ability to work alone and carry out tasks with limited supervision.
  • Accurate meter reading and input for billing schedules.
  • Efficient organization of work and recommendation of route changes.
  • Cooperation and tactful dealing with others.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
