About Trojan Safety
Trojan Safety Services Ltd. is a safety/ medic /industrial fire fighting service company who's primary focus is to service the oil & gas industry in both NEBC and Alberta. We operate approximately 120 medics, 80 H2S Safety Specialists, 30 Firefighters and 6 Air Quality Monitoring Personnel at any given time. We provide services for drilling, completion, work over, production, turn around and abandonment activities.
The position of industrial firefighter requires the person to hold a minimum of a NFPA 1081 Industrial Fire Fighting ticket. Preference will be given to those that obtain a NFPA 1001 level 1 & 2.
About the job
The position of our Industrial Firefighter consists of travelling to remote locations across NEBC and Alberta to set up and monitor during frac operations. We also provide fire safety coverage and decontamination shower services in any industrial activity where the pumping of flammable or hazardous chemicals may occur. Being alert and active while on duty, doing the required checks on all safety equipment pre and post use, completing all required paperwork, maintaining both crew pickups and fire trucks to above industry standard, and performing all yearly inspections and testing of gear and equipment.
- Wage: $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
- Driving bonus for days that are driven to or from site of $175.00/day.
- Trojan Safety guarantees 12 hours a day minimum for any billable day to a customer. Overtime after 12 hours ON SITE. A Travel rate of minimum wage is paid for all travel outside of the 12 hour window.
- Trojan Safety will reimburse up to $325.00/ per pay period for travel expenses to and from Fort St John.
Responsibilities
- Being first on the scene to control fires,
- Assisting in the rescue of workers,
- Assisting personnel exposed to harmful substances,
- Assisting H2S Supervisors and/or First Aid Attendants in the event of an emergency;
- Educating crews on hazards of flammable substance and emergency evacuations;
- Be an active participant in all safety meetings;
- Operate all company vehicles and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner;
- Maintain all tickets;
- Perform pre and post trips for all jobs;
- Follow all company Health and Safety rules.
- Maintain vehicles and fire equipment up to municipal fire hall standards
Physical Requirements
Due to the nature of the position, an Industrial Firefighter must:
- Maintain a reasonable level of fitness
- Have normal color vision, as many safety systems are color coded
- Be able to work several consecutive shifts (12 hours) consisting of day and night shifts.
