Trojan Safety is currently hiring for Industrial Fire Fighters jobs and OFA3 Medics in the Fort St John area with an expected start date of 2023-08-28.

This is a set schedule position of 15 days on 6 days off
An Industrial Firefighter’s main role on any job site is to actively respond to an emergency situation such as an uncontrolled fire or release of potentially harmful substances that may come in contact with personnel on location. The Firefighters travel in teams of two, sometimes three, allowing one to control the pump while the other suppresses the fire with foam and water. The Firefighter’s tasks include but are not limited to:
- Act as emergency personnel on site by:
- Being first on the scene to control fires,
- Assisting in the rescue of workers,
- Assisting personnel exposed to harmful substances,
- Assisting H2S Supervisors and/or First Aid Attendants in the event of an emergency;
- Educating crews on hazards of flammable substance and emergency evacuations;
- Be an active participant in all safety meetings;
- Operate all company vehicles and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner;
- Maintain all tickets;
- Perform pre and post trips for all jobs;
- Follow all company Health and Safety rules.
- Maintain vehicles and fire equipment up to municipal fire hall standards

Physical Requirements
Due to the nature of the position, an Industrial Firefighter must:
- Maintain a reasonable level of fitness;
- Have normal color vision, as many safety systems are color coded;
- Be able to work several consecutive shifts (12 hours) consisting of day and night shifts.
Qualifications
- NFPA 1001 Level 1 and 2
- NFPA 1081 (Auxiliary Firefighters)
- Occupational First Aid or Equivalent
- H2S
- Valid Class 3 Drivers Licence with air brake endorsement (preferred) & Current (within 3 months), clear Drivers Abstract
This is considered a safety sensitive position and the candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

- Roles and Responsibilities
The OFA 3 Medic’s main role on location is to provide emergency response to crews in the event of an injury, illness or emergency situation. The Industrial First Aid Attendant’s tasks include, but not limited to:
- Maintaining all current tickets – i.e. H2S, First Aid, CPR, TDG, WHMIS, Provincial Governing Body Registration;
- Keeping up with all protocols of Advanced First Aid;
- Obeying and following first aid protocols set out by ruling government agencies;
- Collecting and maintaining confidential information – i.e. all pertinent patient medical information;
- Providing First Aid to workers when injured or ill, within your scope of practice (OFA3, EMR, PCP);
- Making transport decision of injured worker to health care facility;
- Familiarizing oneself with WCB documentation, OH&S regulations and all pertinent first aid reports;
- Maintaining proper head count of personnel on location;
- Being an active participant in all safety meetings;
- Ensure that all personnel on location have proper documentation;
- Follow all Health and Safety rules;
- Operating company vehicles and using company equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.

Industrial First Aid Attendants will be working in close proximity to crews and must maintain an air of “friendly professionalism”. They must also show the following character traits:

- Ability of relating to wide range of individuals;
- Being extremely safety conscious;
- Remaining calm in emergencies;
- Ability to direct workers in the event of a medical emergency;

Physical Requirements
Due to the nature of the position, an Industrial First Aid attendant must:
- Posses and maintain a reasonable level of fitness;
- Have good observation skills;
- Be able to work long hours, work many consecutive shifts both day and night shift;
- Be able to work several consecutive shifts, both day and night shifts;
- First Aid Attendants must have normal color vision as many safety systems are color code.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence & Current (within 3 months) Drivers Abstract
- Common Safety Orientation (can provide)
- H2S Alive (can provide)
- WHIMIS (provided)
- TDG (provided)
- Current Provincial Governing Body Registration
