Safety Specialist 

Location: Calgary, AB

Pay: Competitive

Benefits: Excellent

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct coaching and remedial driver training.
  • Qualify, train, certify, and mentor local Driver Coaches.
  • Oversee, schedule, and present training programs.
  • Conduct safety inspections and address deficiencies.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and safety incidents.
  • Develop local safety awareness programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in driver selection, hiring, and road tests.
  • Supervise driver training and clearance of candidates.
  • Attend local OHS Committee meetings.
  • Review Hours of Service data for compliance.
  • Escalate behavioral issues to management.
  • Foster a positive safety culture and encourage reporting.
  • Continuously learn new skills and develop as a safety leader.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective coach and mentor, capable of providing constructive feedback.
  • Proactive problem solver with a thorough knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Ability to work well with team members and influence without authority.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Education 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Transportation Safety and/or Training.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Class 1 or CDL License Required.
  • Certified in all areas of training to be delivered.
