Equipment Operator

Location: Rocky View, AB

Pay: Competitive

Position: Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily pre-trip inspections on assigned equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs with on-staff fleet mechanic to ensure optimal operating condition.
• Ensure safe and steady production of work.
• Excavate utility trenches, sand pads, and backfill.
• Safely switch attachments on equipment and account for all attachments.
• Compact with hoe-pack and/or rapid ram on trench lines and concrete pad installations.
• Handle aggregate with loader.
• Slope and bank trench lines according to OH&S safe trenching standards.
• Perform mechanical loading/unloading of electrical materials as required.
• Clean and lubricate equipment.
• Assist in field laborer tasks as required.
• Demonstrate technical ability and apply appropriate processes and procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings and assist with incident reporting and investigations.
• Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with excavation equipment.
• Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity in operating controls.
• Understanding of grading markers and line assignments for work planning.
• Knowledge of civil construction, blueprint reading, and following specification guidelines.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Promotion of safe work practices.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Experience

• Previous experience is an asset.

• Minimum 2000 hours of experience in similar or the same equipment.

Certificates & Licenses

• Valid Driver’s License and Driver’s abstract in good standing.

• This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to Primary’s Alcohol and Drug Policy, which includes pre-employment testing.
