Journeyman Electricians

Location: Piqua, OH

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00/Hour

Working conditions

• May work in dusty, dirty, hot, cold, or wet conditions, or in confined areas, ditches, or other uncomfortable spaces, or in high place and on personnel lifts.
• Work can require the use of sharp tools, hydraulic tools, high torque power tools and a wide variety of hand tools.
• May work in areas with exposure to trip and slip hazards, multiple level areas with potential falling objects exposure and fall exposure, and exposure to electrical shock and arc flash hazard.
• ABOVE ACTIVITIES REQUIRE ADHERENCE TO ESTABLISHED SAFETY PRACTICES.

Duties and responsibilities

• Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in buildings
• Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables
• Ensures piping complies with electrical code
• Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them
• Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to the building
• Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation
• Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed
• Replaces conduit and wiring as needed
• Replaces circuit breakers as needed
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment
• Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings
• Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
• Maintains company-required performance and maintenance of potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved.

• Performs preventative maintenance functions as directed.
• Adherence to company policies is required at all times.

Travel / Transport

• Required to provide own transportation to and from jobsites.
• Must be willing to travel, work nights, weekends and overtime when needed

Competencies

• Working directly with electrical apprentices
• Verbally communicate with supervision, other trades, supervised employees, inspectors, owners and customers
