Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: Killeen, TX

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: Standard working hours, with potential for overtime

Pay: $27.23 per hour

Schedule: Flexible, may include weekends and evenings

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform mechanical maintenance on Abrams Family of Tanks
• Utilize tools and test equipment for military vehicle maintenance
• Work effectively in a team-oriented structure, both on and off military installations
• Perform tasks at heights, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb, and work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions
• Obtain and maintain required licenses and clearances
• Work autonomously with government personnel
• Experience
  

• Minimum of one year of general mechanical maintenance experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic knowledge of tools and test equipment for military vehicle maintenance

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Pre-employment

• Ability to gain access to US Military facilities and obtain necessary clearances
• US citizenship required

Certificates & Licenses

• Valid State Driver’s License and ability to obtain tank driver’s license
• Ability to meet anthropometric requirements for vehicle entry

• Successfully pass Job Proficiency Certification for Abrams fleet vehicles

Work Conditions: 

• Field and shop environment, both on and off military installations
