Field Service Tech - Electric Motor

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Job Type: Direct Hire 

Pay: Up to $25.99 per hour DOE

Position: Full-time

Responsibilities:  

  • Electric Motor Diagnosis: Inspect and troubleshoot electric motors to identify issues and determine repair or replacement needs.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform repairs, overhauls, and maintenance on various types and sizes of electric motors, including rewinding, reconditioning, and replacing damaged parts.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct tests and performance checks on repaired or newly installed electric motors to ensure they meet industry standards and specifications.
  • Installation: Assist in the installation and commissioning of electric motors, including alignment and integration with other equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of work performed, including service reports, parts used, and equipment specifications.
  • Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates on repair progress, explaining technical issues, and offering recommendations for maintenance and upgrades.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Continual Learning: Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices related to electric motors and related equipment.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Field Service Technician with a focus on electric motors.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electric motor principles, components, and operation.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and equipment used in electric motor repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Safety-conscious mindset and adherence to safety guidelines.

Certificates & Licenses

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to client sites as needed.
