Technician Assembly Mechanic

Position: Regular – Full Time

Location: Odessa, TX

Pay: Competitive

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Compliance, and Integrity policies
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment
  • Utilize strong mechanical aptitude with an Oil & Gas background, and proficiency in using a wide range of mechanical tools and test equipment
  • Conduct Risk Assessments prior to operations and manage material movements with cranes and lift trucks
  • Ensure facility equipment and tooling operate efficiently and safely
  • Identify, report, and mitigate problems or hazardous conditions during equipment disassembly, assembly, and test set-up
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with team members, understanding production schedules/plans
  • Ensure departmental compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical tooling & equipment
  • Complete required documentation accurately for routers, documents, and inspection reports
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly or heavy equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Previous manufacturing/shop service center operations experience

Work Conditions

  • Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending, and other manual tasks
  • Work in the shop environment for a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting
  • Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods
  • Travel within the US for customer locations or other GE facilities as needed
  • Handle heavy and moving parts
  • Work in extreme conditions like high temperatures, enclosed areas, heights, and awkward positions
  • Interpret drawings, prints, and engineering specifications for complex disassembly and reassembly tasks
  • Possess or obtain forklift operator license and certification to operate overhead cranes
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing and eye protection
  • Operate pneumatic and hydraulic torque tools
  • Comply with all quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations

Certificates & Licenses

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of existing natural gas engine and compressor cylinder equipment
  • Team player with the ability to work independently based on engineering specifications
  • Highly skilled in troubleshooting and repairing equipment
  • Ability to set up and run test operations on basic and moderately complex sub-assemblies
  • Knowledgeable in good housekeeping requirements and safety regulations
  • Basic math skills and the ability to read schematics
  • Mechanical aptitude with familiarity in tools
