Manual Turret Lathe Operator

Shift/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM

Pay Rate: $18 -$24/HR

Location: Houston, TX 77581

Experience: 1-3 Years

Job Summary:

The Lathe Operator will calibrate and operate a manual lathe machine which is used to cut, sand, drill, and turn materials. Reading blueprints the Operator will calculate the dimensions needed for the job. The Operator will inspect their workstation to ensure the machine is in working order.

Duties and Responsibilities

Set up and operate lathe to perform machining operations; turning, boring, threading, and facing
On metal workpieces; castings, forgings, and bar stock according to specifications
Read blueprints, job orders, tooling instructions, and charts
Operator will be responsible for the operation of the machine
Monitor and maintain equipment and machinery
Perform routine inspections of equipment and machines

Skills and Requirements:

Capable of interpreting blueprints
Able to do basic mill set ups
High school diploma or equivalent qualification required

Experience

1 - 3 years experience working with machines
Experience working in a manufacturing environment a plus
Manual dexterity required for operating machinery

Physical Requirements:

Heavy lifting may be required, up to 50 pounds
Position may involve long periods of standing, squatting, bending, twisting, and reaching
