Maintenance Lead

Location: Dinuba, CA

Salary: $16.67 - $23.48

Position: Full-Time

Qualifications

Knowledge of: Cement work; Construction principles and practices; Small hand tools; General equipment operation; and Confined Space Entry Procedures. IIPP and proper work safety  standards.

Essential Functions:

• Compute amounts of materials needed to complete projects;

• Perform general maintenance and repairs on pipelines and gates.

• Keep accurate record of materials used;

• Keep records of time spent by self and those supervised;

• Read and work from blue prints and/or construction plans; and

• Operate boom truck, backhoe, dump truck and small hand tools.

• Exercise good judgment establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with coworkers, outside agencies and the public.

• Basic computer skills, 

• Regular attendance and adherence to prescribed work schedule to conduct job  responsibilities.

Typical Physical Activities: 

• Operate District vehicles to travel between job sites and test
• repairs. Must be able to carry, push, pull, reach and lift equipment and parts weighing up  to  50 pounds. Stoops, crawls, crouches, and climbs during maintenance and repair work.
• Communicates orally with District staff in face-to-face, one-to-ne settings. 
• Regularly uses a  telephone for communication. Stands for extended time periods. 
• Work involves  exposure  to  dust, lubricants, cleaning solutions, and chemicals
• Hearing and vision within normal  ranges  with or without correction.

Environmental Factors:

1. Exposure to the sun: 90% - 100% work time spent outside a building exposed to the sun.

2. Work above and below floor level: some work done on ladders or other surfaces from 4 to 12 feet above the ground.

3. Extreme Temperatures: work time in temperatures above 100 and below 40 degrees.

4. Noise: Occasional loud sounds or exposure to machinery where hearing protection may be necessary.

5. Slippery Surfaces: Occasional work on unusually slippery, uneven and wet surfaces.

6. Oil: Some parts of the body in contact with oil or grease occasionally.

7. Dust: Works in or around areas with minor amounts of dust.

8. Irregular or extended work hours: Occasionally required to change working hours or work overtime.

9. Confined Space: will work in confined spaces and or crawl pipelines to make repairs.

Experience: 

At least five (5) years of general maintenance experience preferred with training  in confined spaces preferred.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to read, write &

Understand written instructions. Must be able to make mathematical calculations. CPR and  First Aid Certified preferred.

• Necessary Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid Class "A" California Driver''s License, with Tankard and Hazmat  Endorsement. Failure to obtain a Class “A” within 6 months of hire or to maintain such  required license may be cause for disciplinary action.
