What Sulzer is Hiring for:

We have an immediate full-time opportunity for a Journey-person Millwright at our Edmonton, AB plant. Within this role, our successful candidate will, under limited supervision, interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and sketches, to perform precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting;  Measure components, parts and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges and tools; Perform tasks in the repair and maintenance of Rotating Equipment while adhering to customer, OEM and industry standard specifications.

In this role you will be accountable for:

  • Assembly of all types of Rotating Equipment to customer, OEM and industry standard specifications
  • Disassembling equipment to gain access to remove, clean and inspect components
  • Perform bench work necessary to finish and fit parts to required customer specifications
  • Plan sequence of own work operations and methods of set-up including methods of mounting, levelling, aligning, holding and fastening work
  • Perform final as-built inspections and record data appropriately according to requirements requirements.
  • Participate in activities to investigate and determine root cause failure of equipment and components; recommend repair methods and procedures.
  • Duties as required in the assembly shop

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • High degree of commitment to client services and teamwork 
  • Experience with engineered products and quality principles an asset
  • Previous centrifugal pumps assembly and machining experience an asset
  • Ideally 5+ years as a Red Seal Millwright with knowledge on pump manufacturing
  • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings, sectional drawings, engineered bill of materials an asset
  • Ability to exercise judgement, diplomacy and tact in all interactions, working well with internal/external customers under demanding conditions
  • Ability to operate basic hand tools, basic precision measuring tools and adhere to proper safety attire as specified by a minimum tool requirement list specific to the facility
  • Orientation to our company-wide ESH Management System, which includes following all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures of the Sulzer Safe Behaviour Program.
