What City of Medicine Hat is Hiring for:

Power Plant Operator (Summer Relief)

Type: Temporary, Full-time

Location: Medicine Hat, AB (On-site)

Pay: Competitive

Benefits: Excellent

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safely operate equipment, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and AESO regulations.
  2. Proactively monitor plant equipment to prevent operational issues.
  3. Communicate operational and mechanical statuses to the Shift Engineer.
  4. Demonstrate strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Assume additional duties as assigned by the Shift Engineer.

Qualifications:

  • Third or Fourth Class Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Experience

  • Minimum of one year related experience or a first-year power engineering student.

Education

  • Grade 12 or high school equivalency diploma

Pre-employmnet

  • Safety Sensitive position - completion of a pre-employment drug screen required.
