What City of Calgary is Hiring for:

Journeyman Electrician Technician

Location: Calgary, AB

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Pay: $55.10 per hour

Hours: 

  • Non-standard 40-hour work week
  • 4-day work week

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Service, repair, installation, and operation of electrical equipment and controls
  • Respond to work orders for maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate on ongoing projects with project leads and Electrical Planners
  • Work on various equipment, including fire alarm systems, generators, and power distribution

Certificates & Licenses:

  • Journeyman Electrical certification with Inter-Provincial certificate seal
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence or GDL with no more than 6 demerits

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years directly related experience at the Journeyman level

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge and experience in building system controls and HVAC systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and troubleshoot building system problems
  • Fire Alarm certification (if not included with red seal training)

Work Conditions:
  • Confined spaces, exposure to noise, electrical equipment, and high voltage

Pre-employment Requirements:

  • Enhanced security clearance
  • City of Calgary operator's permit
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications

Pre-employment Drug Test:

  • Conditional on passing a drug test assessing drug use, including cannabis
  • Failure may prevent hiring into safety-sensitive positions for up to twelve months
