Mine Training Supervisor

Location: Edmonton, AB

Type: Full Time
Pay: Competitive

Position: Full-time

General Accountabilities:

  • Reporting to the Director of Health, Safety, and Training.
  • Overseeing daily training execution, planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing the company’s training program.
  • Collaboration with Mine Operations and Maintenance leaders.
  • Daily allocation of training resources.
  • Supervision and performance management of the front-line training team.
  • Ensuring compliance training objectives are met.
  • Thorough documentation of training assessments and field follow-ups.
  • Job task analysis and input on training gap closure techniques.
  • Updating data into KMC’s Training compliance tool for OPS and Maintenance.
  • Booking, tracking, and coordinating post-employment occupational training.
  • Supporting the Talent Management Program, including content development and facilitation.
  • Managing KMC’s learning management system, including BisTrainer.
  • Performing analysis on training spend and working with leaders to manage new trainees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specific Accountabilities:

  1. Collaborate with Mine Operations and Maintenance leaders to understand training demand.
  2. Allocate daily training resources effectively.
  3. Ensure compliance training objectives are achieved.
  4. Supervise and manage the front-line training team.
  5. Maintain high standards for documentation of training assessments and field follow-ups.
  6. Conduct thorough job task analysis and provide input on training gap closure techniques.
  7. Work closely with KMC’s training coordinator to align learning concepts with operational and maintenance requirements.
  8. Update data in KMC’s Training compliance tool for OPS and Maintenance.
  9. Book, track, and coordinate post-employment occupational training for KMC workforce and subcontractors.
  10. Support the Talent Management Program, including content development and facilitation.
  11. Manage KMC’s learning management system, ensuring systems are updated and training records are organized.
  12. Support and develop other training material and programs as required for business needs.
  13. Assist in KMC’s portal management, including annual document review cycles and ensuring appropriate management system governance.
  14. Perform analysis on training spend and collaborate with leaders to manage new trainees.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalency. Post-secondary education in adult learning and/or learning concepts considered an asset.

Experience

  • Over 5 years of related mining industry and training/supervisory experience.

Technical Requirements

  • Skillful in computer use (Microsoft Suite), attention to detail, ability to provide direction and execute work through others, troubleshooting skills, time management, prioritizing skills, flexibility, strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills, tactful and diplomatic.
