Journeyperson Powerline Technician

Location: Calgary, AB

Salary: $50.00 per hour

Position: Full-time, permenent

Duties:

• Construction of overhead and underground power lines, and related utility equipment.
• Assist in the supervision of contracted labor (construction crews, hydrovac, etc.).
• Cable Installation and Terminations.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications.
• Install, alter, repair, and maintain various electrical systems and related equipment.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects and ensure compliance with code.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Comply with standards and procedures of the Iconic Power Systems Health & Safety Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
• Operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
• Provide leadership and guidance to fellow employees and apprentices.

Qualifications:

• Powerline Technician Certificate, Red Seal Certificate is considered an asset.
• Safety tickets (i.e., First Aid, Working at Heights, and Confined Space).

• Valid driver’s license (DZ & AZ is considered an asset).

Experience

• Experience in installing, commissioning, and modifying high voltage underground and overhead distribution facilities, including live line work.

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough understanding of laws, codes, and regulations related to the PLT trade.
• Proficient in fundamentals of UWPC.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Operations:

• Coordinate with Supervisor to ensure that client needs are being met or exceeded.
• Identify potential project scope changes to Supervisor.
