Immediate Opening: Structural Welder Position in Vandenberg Space Force Station, CA ($35.00/HOUR)

Structural Welder

Location: Vandenberg Space Force Station, CA

Pay: $35.00/HOUR

Duration: 3 months+ 

Shift: 

• Monday-Friday, 6:00am-4:30pm
• 50 hours per week

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years experience

• Experience with machining, sheet metal work, or ductwork is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with different types of metals and their properties
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
• Knowledge of forklift operation for material handling purposes

Responsibilities

• Use a variety of measuring devices, tape measure, ruler, calipers, etc.
• Identify different materials and their shapes and sizes
• Safely use power hand tools, especially angle grinders
• Perform small welding and fabrication jobs when needed
• Utilize basic knowledge of welding procedures (MIG, TIG, Stick)
• Use commonly used weld shop tools (Iron worker, ban saw, plasma cutter, cutting torch, etc.)
• Cut, fit-up, and tack weld steel structures and assemblies
• Safely operate reach forklift, man baskets, scissor lifts, etc.
• Stay busy and proactive with tasks
• Read and interpret blueprints to determine specifications and requirements
• Assemble and fabricate metal components according to blueprints and project plans
• Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and smooth metal surfaces
• Inspect welds for accuracy, completeness, and quality
• Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines
