HS&E Coordinator – Highway Maintenance

Location: Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Canada

Job Status: Full-Time

Pay: Competitive

Position: Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice to operations regarding Ledcor's Health and Safety Management System, based on a solid understanding of program execution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the coordination and completion of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, focus audits, and incident investigations. Verify implementation of any identified corrective actions, as required.
  • Verify compliance with leading and lagging indicators, including subcontractors.
  • Conduct the HS&E Orientation to employees and subcontractors during project onboarding.
  • Support the coordination, organization, and delivery of project toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and suppliers.

Experience

  • 1+ years of relevant industry Health and Safety experience in the mining, construction, and/or maintenance industries.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Possession of CSO, NCSO, or CRSP is an asset.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean abstract.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce, while also effectively interacting with project management staff, clients, and customers.
  • Excellent verbal, written communications, and computer skills.
  • Ability to provide a proactive approach to safety, identifying operational and organizational issues, and developing and implementing strategies to solve them.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, program development, safety & health training, and accident investigation.
  • A strong team player attitude with the ability to effectively adjust to changing priorities and demands.

Travel/Transportation

  • Will be provided a company's vehicle;

Working Conditions:

  • Travel to various sites will be required.
