What SaskPower is Hiring for:

Operator, Process (Board) - Power Engineer

Location: Multiple Locations - Estevan, SK & Coronach, SK

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation:
  • Start at $65.34/hr for 2nd Class Operators 
  • $70.03/hr for 1st Class Operators.
  • Monthly License Premiums and Location Allowances provided for eligible positions/locations

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and participate in the efficient operation of plant turbines, generators, boilers, emission control systems, and associated auxiliaries to meet generating requirements.
  • Ensure readiness of equipment to meet peak load demands, spinning reserves, and emergency operating requirements.
  • Operate, commission, monitor, and troubleshoot various plant equipment, taking corrective action to maintain system security and optimize plant availability and efficiency.
  • Monitor and interpret pressure, temperature, combustion, and other parameters, ensuring the plant operates within allowable tolerances.
  • Convey operating information to the system control centre, perform generation and switching instructions, and coordinate plant and system operational requirements.
  • Conduct inspections, analyze equipment malfunctions, and participate in preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Issue equipment access permits, perform switching as authorized, and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Maintain operating logs, compile records detailing work performed, and inform incoming shift personnel of plant status.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to internal and external groups.
  • Adhere to safety, environmental standards, and corporate commitments.
  • Participate in continuous educational and professional development, both internal and external.
  • Direct, coach, train, orient, and work effectively with other staff.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Second Class Power Engineer’s Certificate and valid Second-Class License, or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills & Aptitudes

  • Ability to make and implement sound decisions under emergent conditions.
  • Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position.
