Process Engineer - EV Battery Launch

Location: St. Thomas, Ontario
Job Type: Direct Hire

Position: Permanent | Full-time

Pay: Competitive

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and design serial lines for battery assembly manufacturing, from concept to commissioning and hand-over.
  • Technically prepare equipment purchasing, including requirements specification and vendor evaluation.
  • Conduct worldwide benchmarking of equipment manufacturers to ensure cutting-edge technology adoption.
  • Continuously improve processes to optimize product quality, reduce production costs, and minimize emissions.
  • Perform failure and root cause analysis, including tear-down analysis, to enhance equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
  • May require national and international travel (approximately 30-40%).

Pre-employment

  • Legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.

Knowledge & Skills

  • International mindset with an interest in global work and diverse teams.
  • Demonstrate profound knowledge of battery cell production processes and related equipment.
  • Display high-cost awareness, negotiating skills, and assertiveness.
  • Possess above-average communication skills and a strong ability to work in a team.
  • Thorough understanding of cell equipment design, MSA, DOE, and the design of a cell production control plan.
  • Strong understanding of PFMAE.

Experience

  • MUST have experience in lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
  • Have 5+ years of relevant experience in equipment planning and process engineering, preferably related to battery cells.
  • Experience with equipment selection, FAT/SAT, continuous product improvement, and equipment installation and ramp-up process.

Education

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in process/chemical/mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
