Specialist, Transmission Operations Support 

Location: Regina or Saskatoon

 Job Type: Permanent - Full Time

Job Summary: 

The Specialist is accountable for providing subject matter expertise and administering a specialized function. As a member of SaskPower’s management team, this position acts as a central point of contact in the management and administration of strategic and operational functions, offering expert advice and direction aligned with departmental and corporate goals.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Plan, research, develop, evaluate, and implement processes, policies, and procedures for the development of strategies and business initiatives.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in a specialized function, providing advice consistent with relevant legislation, regulations, laws, and/or industry standards.
  • Identify new business solutions and operational efficiencies, impacting SaskPower’s business operations and strategies.
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional projects for corporate and departmental strategic planning initiatives.
  • Represent the department, preparing and presenting material to internal and external audiences as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry developments and best practices, adapting them to SaskPower’s operational environment.
  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Journeyman Electrician, Power System Electrician, or related equivalent.

Experience

  • Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) OR Five (5) years of related field transmission experience.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships.
  • Results-oriented thinker with excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment, fostering a culture focused on safety, innovation, and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated skill in SaskPower’s competencies.
  • Must have a continuing record of professional development.

Pre-employment: 

  • Mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
