What FortisBC is Hiring for:

Electric Maintenance Planning & Reliability Co-op

Location: Trail, BC, CA
Employment Status: Co-op Student
Salary: $24.28 - $28.56 Hourly
Temp Duration: 8 Months

Maintenance Planning and Reliability Work:

  • Substation equipment commissioning
  • Substation equipment maintenance
  • Equipment Auditing
  • Equipment Condition Assessments
  • Field visits and on-site diagnostic testing

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing test results for low, medium, and high voltage electrical and providing data interpretation and diagnosis on equipment condition and health.
  • Delivering condition assessment reports indicating equipment health, probability of failure, and risk/liabilities.
  • Communicating opportunities for equipment replacement, upgrades, or refurbishment.
  • Developing equipment testing practice and/or work procedures.
  • Performing site visits related to the transmission and distribution equipment operation, condition, and performance.
  • Researching new utility equipment, maintenance practices, and test gear.
  • Assessing alternative approaches to sustaining or improving equipment or system reliability.
  • Networking with other FBC departments, vendors, and utilities; collaborate and share information.

Education

  • Bachelor of Engineering Student (Electrical or Mechanical) - Third or Fourth year preferred.
  • Enrolled in a Co-op program.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Interested in learning about the Electrical Utility Industry.
  • Proven competence in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Competent public speaker and strong written communicator.

Experience

  • Experience or knowledge with AutoCAD Drawing Viewer and Revu Bluebeam.
  • Experience or courses in electrical power systems considered an asset.
  • Experience with VBA/C++ programming is preferred.
