What City Of Edmonton is Hiring for:

Roadway Maintenance Supervisor - Bridges

Location: Various Districts, Edmonton (City Wide)

Job Status: Temporary Full-time (Up to 9 months)

Salary: $41.559 - $42.730 (Hourly)

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Direct and supervise daily field staff activities.
  • Coach and mentor field staff, fostering a culture of growth and development.
  • Promote a safe work environment, ensuring safety training records and mandatory training.
  • Oversee the performance of up to 35 field staff (summer).
  • Ensure staff orientation and training on tasks and equipment.
  • Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings addressing safety, cultural commitments, and expectations.
  • Inspect work performed by BF2s and field crews.
  • Manage time entry, attendance, and escalate issues as required.
  • Coordinate program initiatives, considering staff resources, program priorities, and external requests.
  • Ensure maintenance plans are executed per the applicable Asset Maintenance Plan.
  • Schedule labor, equipment, materials, and contractors.
  • Coordinate/Implement program initiatives and prioritize program priorities.
  • Ensure effective work delivery considering time, quality, and budget.
  • Conduct field inspections for QA/QC.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 with additional training (Hiring Manager Certification Course, Making the Transition to Supervisor, Essential Supervisory Skills).
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate.

Education

  • Post-Secondary Courses/Education considered an asset.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate subordinate work.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Supervisory skills with experience in leading large field-based teams.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to monitor work plans for timeliness, quantity, quality, productivity, and accomplishments.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in bridge maintenance, construction, and operations.
  • Experience in implementing safety practices, procedures, and change.
  • Experience with Google Applications Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, Posse, SLIM, and SAP.
  • Experience monitoring and coaching employees, resolving issues.

Work Conditions:

  • Shift-based position with 14 days on and 7 days off, working 10 hours per day.
  • Work will primarily be outdoors in various weather conditions.
