What PrideStaff is Hiring for:

AC/DC Mechanic / Pump Mechanic

Location: East Knoxville, TN

Shift/Hours: 7:30 AM – 4 PM, Monday - Friday

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $27.00/hour; depending on experience

Experience: 

  • Five years or more experience with Fractional to 6,000HP AC and DC Electric Motors, Horizontal split case, submersible, and turbine pumps. 
Tools & Equipment
  • Must own your own tools or be willing to purchase them.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate specialized testing equipment, including but not limited to test panels, surge testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklifts, brazing units, dip tanks, and various hand-held power tools.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings.
  • Use calipers and read micrometers.
  • Perform DC motor inspections and surveys, including resetting brush rigging, removal/replacement of motors, stoning new brush paths, laser alignment, coupling replacement, etc.
  • Have a basic understanding of electrical theories.
  • Mechanical experience.
  • Physically fit to stand for long periods, bend, twist, kneel, and lift 50 lbs without injury.
  • Basic knowledge and use of common electronics and programs.
  • Perform comprehensive rebuilding of Electric Motors and Pumps.
  • Inspect various electro-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunction.
  • Produce failure reports.
  • Test conditions of windings per EASA standards.
  • Fill out company paperwork completely and legibly.
  • Prepare all reusable parts for assembly and inspect renewed parts for serviceability.
  • Assemble, test, and Quality Check AC/DC Motors and pumps.
  • Observe and follow all safety procedures and policies.
  • Maintain a clean work area and practice good housekeeping.
