What City of Medicine Hat is Hiring for:

Transit Operator/Service Workers

Location: Medicine Hat, AB

Pay: Competitive

Position: Full-time

Transit Operator Role:
  • Safely operate a variety of transit vehicles.
  • Demonstrate courtesy and respect towards customers and road users.
  • Work under various weather conditions.

Service Worker Role:
  • Perform manual labor tasks.
  • Clean and prepare buses for service.
  • Provide temporary backup for transit operators.

Schedule

  • Shift work including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Valid Alberta Class 2 Driver's License with airbrake endorsement and an acceptable driving record.
  • Valid First Aid certificate.

Experience

  • Previous experience with persons with disabilities is an asset.
  • Previous customer service experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience safely operating large vehicles is an asset.

Pre-employment

  • Safety Sensitive position – requires a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Enjoys interacting with the public and assisting people in reaching their destinations.
  • Works well under stress and varying weather conditions.
  • Exhibits the ability to make sound decisions independently.
  • Ready for shift work, including rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
