What The RTOC Group is Hiring for:

The RTOC Group requires Directional Drilling Optimization Specialists to join our Remote Operations team in various locations on a 2/2 or 4/4 rotation.

The Drilling Optimization Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of on-bottom drilling activities, maintaining HSE and operational efficiency, at maximum value to the client. The Optimization Specialist will supervise and direct operations remotely for the client’s offshore drilling program following a rotation system with a ‘back-to-back’ colleague.

Planning, Organization, and Execution

  • Manage the on-bottom drilling operations collaboratively with on-site teams including wellbore trajectory decision making and anti-collision monitoring, roadmap execution and parameter optimization, real time T&D modelling, real-time trip hook load monitoring for BHA and casing strings, drilling dysfunction detection and mitigation, and autodriller/rig automation optimization
  • Work closely with Engineers and Operations Team Leads to make decisions/recommendations including selection and optimization of services; materials; operational techniques, operational efficiencies, and management of project risks.
  • Optimize operational performance without compromising HSE, well integrity, or the integrity of the drilling unit.
  • Resolve operational problems as they arise with the consultation and collaboration of the client’s operations team.
  • Manage the quality assurance of BHA components and technical data tracking
  • Assist Engineering teams in failure analysis and forensics
  • Assess the experience and competence of the contractor’s personnel and feedback via the reporting line if deficiencies are identified.

Requirements

  • Have a proven track record in well-execution delivery.
  • A demonstrable experience in Directional Drilling supervision operations.
  • Strong focus on data analytics and advanced computer skills
  • Extensive drilling experience and significant experience with complex BHAs in the higher-risk areas of Wells e.g. HPHT experience.
  • Degree in Engineering, Physical Science or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada or the United States as a consultant.
