Diesel Mechanic (Truck/Trailer) Technician

Location: Taylor, MI

Job Type: Full-time, 1st shift

Pay: Starting pay $21.79-$25.27/hour (depending on experience) 

Hours: 

  • 8 am - 4:30 pm
  • Monday-Friday 
  • Weekends as needed

Certificates & Licenses

  • Valid Driver's License

Experience

  • 2 years of verifiable experience
  • Previous experience with all types and makes of tractors and trailers, heavy-duty diesel trucks

Tools & Equipment

  • Basic hand and air power tools

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on trailers, commercial trailers/trucks
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks on tires, wheels, brakes, air systems, clutch/linkage, starting system, electrical system
  • Perform truck and trailer DOT inspections
  • Repair and maintain diesel "heavy-duty" trucks primarily; may also work on chemical trailers, including chemical tankers and dry bulk units
  • Diesel work duties include all aspects of truck repair (excluding bodywork), computer diagnostics on engine/transmission/chassis, emissions system repairs, transmission/clutch/linkage; electrical; starting systems; engine PM; A/C; and other typical truck repairs
  • Trailer repair duties include checking running gear including brakes, tires/wheels, air systems, suspension, electrical systems & lights

Other Job Details:

  • May work above shoulder level with power and/or hand tools weighing 15 lbs or less and in confined spaces
  • Must meet physical requirements of the position
  • Mobility, vision, hearing, and sense of smell and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties performed
  • May stand and walk on level and uneven surfaces, twist, bend, push, pull, crouch, climb stairs, bend and crawl, grasp, drag, lift, and carry items weighing 50 lbs or less
