The Derrickhand is responsible for all work above the drill floor; monitoring and maintaining proper drilling fluid characteristics, the rate of fluid circulation, mud handling equipment and the preventative maintenance program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Learn and adhere to the Company’s Safety Program and government safety regulations
• Support and promote to all employees the Company’s Policies, Procedures and Safety Programs
• Assist Driller with equipment maintenance specifically related to the circulating system
• Observe and maintain proper drilling fluid characteristics and mud handling
• Operate and maintain drilling fluid systems and pumps during drilling
• Work on or above the drilling floor, guide drill pipe during tripping process
• Set an example to fellow employees by adhering to all safe work practices and policies. Train new crew members to do the same.
• Ensure usage of proper safety equipment
• Ability to comply with company guidelines and work in a safe manner
