What Parker Wellbore is Hiring for:

Derrickhand 

Location: St. John's, NL 

Pay: $42hr DOE

Position: Full-time, permanent

Essential Functions:

  • Provide visible leadership with a Total Ownership attitude, focusing on safety.
  • Enforce company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Train and supervise junior crew members on standard operating procedures.
  • Delegate work effectively with clear expectations.
  • Perform tubular measurements, handle tubular in the derrick, and align stand pipe manifolds.
  • Monitor mud returns and volumes, regulating flow across shale shakers.
  • Manage fluid transfers, line up valves, hoses, and piping for fluid transfer.
  • Identify worn shale shaker screens and perform proper repairs.
  • Conduct isolations and LOTO procedures for circulating, rotating, or hoisting equipment.
  • Install equipment overhead in the derrick, including third-party items.
  • Manage working mud tanks, perform mud pump repairs, and mix chemicals.
  • Assemble well-control equipment on the wellhead.
  • Grease derrick crown, inspect, and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Perform cleaning, painting, and maintenance on drilling packages and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Able to identify and understand functionality of various rig equipment and tubular sizes.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in basic rigger’s role and mechanical systems.
  • Skilled at working with hand and power tools.
  • Proficient in operating circulatory system equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in drilling and well operations, well integrity, and well control.
  • Good verbal communication skills, sound reasoning, and basic mathematical skills.
  • High School diploma preferred; at least 4 years of work experience.
  • Ability to meet safety standards for offshore or onshore operations.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in a marine construction/commissioning environment is an asset.
  • Must meet all standards for safe operations, including medical fitness assessments.
  • Willingness to work a minimum of 12 hours per day on a rotational schedule.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada and the United States.
  • Position may involve rotating to Ingleside, TX, upon hire.

  • Operate machinery and/or power tools.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions, at heights, and in small or enclosed spaces.
  • Ability to work as a team, multitask, and make sound decisions.
