Journeyperson Powerline Technician

Location: Calgary, AB

Pay: $50.00 per hour

Position: Full-time, Permanent

Duties

• Construction of overhead and underground power lines, and related utility equipment.
• Assist in the supervision of contracted labour (construction crews, hydrovac etc.).
• Cable Installation and Terminations.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications.
• Install, alter, repair, and maintain various electrical systems and related equipment.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, and defects and to ensure compliance with code.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Comply with standards and procedures of the Iconic Power Systems Health & Safety Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
• Operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
• Provide leadership and guidance to fellow employees and apprentices.

Certificates & Licenses

• Powerline Technician Certificate, Red Seal Certificate is considered an asset
• Safety tickets (i.e. First Aid, Working at Heights, and Confined Space)

Experience

• Experience in installing, commissioning, and modifying high-voltage underground and overhead distribution facilities, including live line work.
• Thorough understanding of laws, codes, and regulations related to the PLT trade
• Proficient in the fundamentals of UWPC

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Operations

• Coordinate with the Supervisor to ensure that client needs are being met or exceeded
• Identify potential project scope changes to Supervisor’s

Certificates & Licenses

• Valid driver’s license (DZ & AZ is considered an asset)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
