$48.17/hr: 40 Pipeline Blasters, Drillers & High Scalers Needed in BC & AB
What Glacier Blasting & Shoring is Hiring for:
Glacier Blasting is looking for new team members to fill the positions of Blasting Drillers, Blasters, and High Scalers for our remote site-based projects in British Columbia and Alberta.
Reporting to the Site Foreman, for a designated Pipeline Project, you will work with a team of site crew and other blasting professional.
Duties & Responsibilities for All Positions:
- Promote, and lead by example, a work environment where the safety and health of all employees, subcontractors, and individuals on site is paramount
- Consistent, and timely communication regarding any changes in your area of expertise to the Superintendent/Foreman.
- Work with the project team to plan and schedule to maximize the potential of the project
- Provides training to helpers, as required
Qualifications for Drillers:
- Experience operating one or more of these drills: Ranger 800, Atlas Copco T30R, Hoe Drill, Airtrack, DML in a safely and efficient manner
- Experience operating a top hammer hydraulic drill (preferably Sandvik)
- Basic computer skills and ability to communicate in English, oral and written
- Be able to read and interpret the Blast plan and have experience completing drill logs
- Experience laying out and loading/unloading magazines and holes
Qualifications for Blasters:
- WorkSafe BC blasters ticket or equivalent from another Canadian Province, required
- Thorough understanding of drilling & blasting methods applied under various site conditions
- Read and understand blast plans as required on site
- Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies and changes required to the blast plan based on specific field conditions
Qualifications for High Scalers:
- Minimum 2 years as a High Scaler on Slopes over 100feet
- General Knowledge of drilling, rope access and rock scaling
- Knowledge of personal protective equipment, the use of fall protection, the ability to work in a close-knit team environment
- General knowledge of knots including Bowline, Clove Hitch, Figure eight and how to tie a Prussic
- Knowledge of the use of acceptable anchor points
- Confident communicator
- Proficient Climber
- In good physical shape and ability to pass a fit to work test
- Minimum Level 1 First aid is preferred
Qualifications, All Positions:
- Ability to pass pre-access site medicals, and drug & alcohol screening (some projects may require further checks such as criminal background)
- Previous construction industry knowledge and experience
- Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done
- Load/unload materials and equipment, as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Remote fly-in camp locations – Typical rotation is 3 weeks in and 1 week out, 12-hour days
- Field environment, working to deadlines, some high stress situations (e.g., meeting deadlines)
- May be required to work outside of normal work hours to meet the needs of the project
- Will be working with drills in a high dust and noise environment (PPE required) in all weather conditions
- Frequent travel
- On call for emergencies as needed

- Union Pipeline base wage of $48.17/hr
