$30.98hr DOE (Full Time) Structural Steel Welders & Fitters (5/2 Shifts)

Apprentice and Journeyperson Welders and/or Fitters 

Client: Susy Structural Steel Fabrication shop

Location: Calgary

Pay: $30.98 per hour, DOE

Position: Full-time permanent work

Hours: Day and night shifts available, with lots of opportunities for overtime

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints or welding process specifications and welding symbols.
• Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
• Removes welds using the Air Arc Gouging process.
• Completes assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications.
• Accurately completes time sheets, weight sheets, hazard analysis sheets etc.
• Operates manual flame-cutting equipment.
• Adjusts welding equipment and tooling according to work specifications.
• Completes housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area on a daily basis and/or when required.

Experience

• One year of work experience in the trade required. Some college or industry courses in welding are considered an asset.

• Specialization in structural construction welding considered an asset.

Certificates & Licenses

• Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) an asset.
• Ensures all required CWB qualifications are current.
  

• Overhead Crane certification is an asset.

Knowledge & Skills

• Possesses solid understanding of welding equipment and welding accessories.
• Possesses knowledge of pre-heat and post-heat temperatures and applications.

Travel/Transportation

• Must have own transportation as the location is not accessible with public transportation.

Tools & Equipment

• Must supply basic hand tools.
• Must have CSA-approved steel-toed boots
