Loader/Labourer

LocationConcord, ON

Pay: $27 per hour

Position: 
Full-time

Schedule/Shift:

  • Regular business hours Monday to Friday with OT opportunities after hours and over the weekends or Sunday to Thursday shift.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Plastic resin transload and railcar storage facility.
  • Ability to operate railcar loading systems and equipment (Trackmobile operator and conductor).
  • Ability to read and follow company and site-specific policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to pass CN & CP eRail safe background checks.
  • Participation in safety training programs, which may require brief and occasional travel
  • Professional interaction and collaboration with other BPL Team Members and customers
  • Weigh scale operator (scaling trucks in and out of the facility).
  • Communicating and verifying self-load transfers.
  • Assist with maintenance, clean-up, and other duties as assigned
  • Work safely, using proper and supplied PPE.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Must have clear and concise radio communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical equipment.
  • Operation of hand tools and air tools preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.

Personal Aptitudes

  • Positive work ethic and attitude.
  • Team Player.

Certificates & Licenses
  • Valid Driver's License or ID

Work Conditions

  • May work above shoulder level with power and /or hand tools weighing 15 pounds or less and in confined spaces.
  • Must meet the physical requirements of the position and have mobility, vision, hearing, sense of smell, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties performed.
  • May stand and walk on level and uneven surfaces, twist, bend, push, pull, crouch, climb stairs, bend and crawl, grasp, drag, lift, and carry items weighing 50 lbs or less.
  • CN Rules 105 (non-main track) with air brake endorsement an asset - will supply training.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.

Experience

  • Previous industrial experience preferred
  • Previous experience operating machinery preferred
  • Rail Car Loading and Unloading experience preferred
Educational Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent preferred
