Labourer I
Location: Edmonton, AB
Pay: $22.072 - $30.606 (hourly)

Position: Full time
Hours of Work:
- Up to 39 hours per week.
- Ability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays is required.
- Shifts are subject to changes based on operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily janitorial duties throughout River Valley facilities and parks
- Maintain ski trails, ice surfaces and toboggan hills
- Clear walkways, facilities and trails of debris and snow
- Sand slippery trails, walkways and facility entrances
- Collect refuse in parks and on trails
- Provide excellent customer service to patrons
- Operate some equipment and complete minor maintenance
- Perform security checks on assigned premises
- Complete other related duties as required
Education
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent
Experience
- Janitorial or facility maintenance experience is an asset
- Previous experience maintaining cross country ski trails and/or outdoor ice surfaces is an asset
- Experience operating a water truck, plow truck, broom and/or snowmobile is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to complete public-facing tasks in a respectful, inclusive and service-minded way
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to understand and complete oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform medium to heavy manual labour for extended periods of time in various weather and environmental conditions
- Must be physically capable of performing duties, including repetitive bending and lifting of large items (for example, garbages and picnic tables)
- Ability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays, and adapt to changing shift schedules, is required
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel toed boots, is required

Certificates & Licenses
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is required
- Air brakes (Q) certification or equivalent is an asset
