In September 2015, the Boards of Directors of Enform Canada and the Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) announced an agreement in principle to merge into one safety organization by the end of 2016, but plans to merge were postponed due to industry market conditions.
Discussions resumed earlier this year between the two organizations, with a new target to merge by the end of September 2017.
Bringing together these two associations will create one industry safety organization to accelerate safety performance improvement across the industry, minimize duplication, improve operational efficiencies and reduce confusion among employers and workers regarding safety standards and training.
Enform represents Canada’s upstream oil and gas industry, supporting and promoting safety standards through its training, certifications, services and resources.
OSSA represents companies and their stakeholders operating in Canada’s oil sands sector, similarly supporting and promoting strategies, safety standards, training and tools regionally.
