T&D Protective Relay Technician
North Slope, Alaska
Job Profile Summary
Responsible for providing a high degree of technical competence and working knowledge of transformer, line and substation protective relaying, including electrotechnical and solid-state relays. Install, maintain, and repair protective relaying schemes. Understand schematics, wiring diagrams, and three-line drawings used to evaluate system issues. Repair and examine relays used to protect transformers and breakers. Evaluate the response of the relay to assess the cause of any malfunction. Install and maintain new digital protective relaying for system upgrades. Document test results, adjustments and related data on relay history. Coordinate with other departments and work on troubleshooting tasks. Use a wide range of general purpose and specialized electrical and electronic testing equipment and instruments.
