We are hiring a Journeyperson Electrician for our Fort Hills site in Fort McMurray! If you take pride in safely maintaining a wide variety of Industrial electrical equipment to ensure optimum reliability, we want to hear from you!

As an Electrician with Suncor, you can expect to learn new things, improve current processes and work with some of the most talented people in our industry!

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five years of electrical experience working in oil and gas or in a large industrial facility, maintaining, servicing, troubleshooting, and switching high voltage systems (equipment up to 15KV) 
  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Electrical Technician Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Electrical Technician Certificate; attach your Journeyman / Red Seal ticket with your application to be considered 
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A deep understanding of maintenance and operations and ability to read and interpret equipment specifications, engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
  • DCS and PLC knowledge and ability to troubleshoot effectively with Automation
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Execute maintenance activities including installation, troubleshooting, and repairs to all systems and equipment on a wide spectrum of plant electrical equipment and machinery in high-and low-voltage applications 
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on all types of electrical equipment while working closely with Automation and Operations to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Participate in post-event failure analysis and root cause discussions to craft creative solutions
  • Build an atmosphere of continuous improvement, centered on safe work practices & procedures
  • High Voltage switching, troubleshooting, and creating isolations with minimal supervision.
  • Large electric motors, starters, and isolating equipment, as well as small and large powered VFD drives. Low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment maintenance

Location & other key details

  • You will work out of our Fort Hills Plant in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation (7 days on, 7 days off,  7 nights on, 7 days off; 12-hour shifts)
  • You will be on a Fly-In-Fly-Out Rotation from one of the approved hubs of Edmonton or Calgary or a Bus-In-Bus-Out of Fort McMurray.
