Substation Welders Needed in TX up to $38/hr
What Great Southwestern Construction is Hiring for:
GSW Substation Welder is responsible for welding substation components by calculating requirements; studying metals; determining welding techniques; cleaning, preparing, cutting, burning, and welding pieces; selecting methods; setting-up and measuring assemblies; inspecting and testing welds.
Essential Functions
- Interpret drawings and plans to understand project scope and specifications
- Produce templates and other work aids
- Provide material take-off and rough drawings when needed
- Utilize industry tools and equipment, including powered saws, shears, portable grinders, and hand files
- Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves and angels
- Weld parts in flat, vertical, and/or overhead positions
- Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds
- Document welding actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records
- Keep welding equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining equipment supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy welding environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Other duties as assigned
- Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location
- Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards
About You:
Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of professional welding experience preferred and 6G Certification for up to 6” aluminum bus is required
- MIG, TIG, Welder Certification a plus
- Certifications in MIG, Hardwire, Flux-Core or Stick preferred by not mandatory
- Working knowledge of electric construction tools and equipment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Working knowledge of Company and applicable governmental safety rules and regulations
- Ability to meet safety standards using appropriate welding techniques
- Advanced understanding of various weld form symbols on blueprints
- Ability to weld both vertical and horizontal
- Ability to tack up and square up work

Compensation & Benefits- Hourly Pay $24-$38Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
